From start to finish the whole process of choosing, buying, taking delivery of and the installation of our cabin very easy. The sales staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Planning Your Garden Office

In the UK, garden offices are generally considered “outbuildings” and may fall under permitted development rights, meaning you might not need planning permission if certain conditions are met.

Rules governing outbuildings apply to sheds, greenhouses and garages as well as other ancillary garden buildings such as swimming pools, ponds, sauna cabins, kennels, enclosures (including tennis courts) and many other kinds of structure for a purpose incidental to the enjoyment of the dwellinghouse.

No cabin above 4m high
If the cabin is over 30 square metres building control may be required
The cabin cannot be more than 50% of your garden area including any other extended work undertaken to increase your original building.
If the cabin is over 2.5m high it will need to be 2 metres from your boundary. The cabin has to be 1m from any boundary if less than 2.5m high and over 15 square metres
If under 15 square metres and below 2.5 metres the structure can be sited closer than the 1m building control ruling
No outbuilding on land forward of a wall forming the principal elevation.
Outbuildings and garages to be single storey with maximum eaves height of 2.5 metres and maximum overall height of four metres with a dual pitched roof or three metres for any other roof.
Maximum height of 2.5 metres in the case of a building, enclosure or container within two metres of a boundary of the curtilage of the dwellinghouse.
No verandas, balconies or raised platforms.
No more than half the area of land around the “original house”* would be covered by additions or other buildings.
In National Parks, the Broads, Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and World Heritage Sites the maximum area to be covered by buildings, enclosures, containers and pools more than 20 metres from house to be limited to 10 square metres.
On designated land* buildings, enclosures, containers and pools at the side of properties will require planning permission.
Within the curtilage of listed buildings any outbuilding will require planning permission.
*The term “original house” means the house as it was first built or as it stood on 1 July 1948 (if it was built before that date). Although you may not have built an extension to the house, a previous owner may have done so.*Designated land includes national parks and the Broads, Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, conservation areas and World Heritage Sites.

If none of our standard log cabins give you the space or design you have in mind then we can help you design your own bespoke log cabin. Our sales team and specialist draughtsmen are here to help every step of the way. This design service is FREE to all our customers who want something different and unique.

The doors and windows are sited where you want them along with any internal walls and internal door openings you may include. Once the basic drawing and design has been agreed, it will then be passed on to our specialist draughtsman who will provide a scaled drawing showing you all elevation and plan drawings for your proposed log cabin garden office.

At Creative living we offer standard electrical packages on both single skin and twin skin cavity wall cabins. All electrical works are surveyed and completed by our experienced and qualified electricians. All external power cabling is armoured and in most cases fitted to your boundary fence. Although a trench option is available on request and can be discussed and costed during the electrical site survey.

All single skin cabin cables are fitted within white cable trunking and secured to the internal cabin walls. Additional lights, sockets and switches can be supplied on request and discussed during the electrical site survey.

Twin skin cabin cables are fitted within the cavity wall which removes the need for white cable trunking used on our single skin cabin installations.

Our standard electrical packages can be upgraded to suit your individual requirements where we can supply a bespoke electrical service tailored to your cabin specifications and design.

From the very beginning, when Adam called me upon arriving at our house and I was unable to be there, I was touched by his patience and professionalism. When I decided to have a Man Cave built in my garden for the World Cup, I did some extensive research on all the different options. Having eventually decided on a Log Cabin by Creative Living I can only say just how delighted I am with the results. Not only did they help me with a bespoke design to include internal storage but also on great guidance for the protection and upkeep against the British weather.
